After the success Curation as a university project, the faculty encouraged us to submit the game to be showcased at the Barclays Game Frenzy taking place at the Barclays headquarters in Canary Wharf in London. After applying, we were selected alongside two other projects to showcase in the University section.
I got a lift there with the producers (thanks Gabe!). Once we arrived, we set up at the table and began to socialise with the other attendees. Our room was solely uni students, so it was interesting to learn about the games courses at other universities that I considered when applying for university way back in 2021. We met many other talented young developers in there - some which I would love to work with in future!
After socialising, it was time to examine the rest of the event - there were a number of rooms full of games-adjacent companies to talk to, and I spent the majority of my time in the indie dev room. I had some great conversations with solo developers, and met people applying for the Transfuser game grant whose game I already knew of thanks to acting as a consultant to one of their rival games. I came away with some business cards and a lot of newfound knowledge!
